CAN MURRAY SAVE CHRISTMAS!?
New York, New York – MURRAY HILL, "the hardest working middle-aged man in show business," gives the much needed gift of holiday cheer and entertainment to New York City with his legendary Yuletide tradition: A MURRAY LITTLE CHRISTMAS at THE ZIPPER FACTORY Saturday nights, December 13 & 20th, with two shows a night at 8:00pm & 10:30pm. A MURRAY LITTLE CHRISTMAS is a cocktail-style variety holiday show packed with nuts, fruitcakes, stuffed boxes, plenty of tree trimmings, hanging balls, showgirls and Mr. Showbiz himself.
The holidays just wouldn't be the same without Murray's special blend of comedy, music and heartfelt hi-jinks. Expect an evening of hilarious and wacky skits with the cast, a sleigh full of cheesy holiday songs, dazzling production numbers, and red hot burlesque from the ladies. Murray also promises a few tender moments when he sings his signature "Have Yourself a Murray Little Christmas" with his longtime accompanist Mr. Lance Cruce.
It’s Christmas Eve and his SPECIAL GUESTS are getting lit, popping pills from some Canadian online pharmacy, singing songs, breaking out into dance...anything to forget about the recession and the impending end of the world. They are holding out hope though and waiting for SANTA to show up with presents, hopefully some cash, drink tickets, a rent controlled apartment and health insurance. Spirits are high (literally) until SEBASTIAN THE ELF throws Murray into a tailspin by asking, “Hey Mur, how can Santa Claus come to your house when you don’t have a chimney, or, in fact, a house any more?” Murray’s house, like many Americans, is in foreclosure and he is flat broke. To have a show and holiday party this year, he had to build a ginger bread house at The Zipper Factory, but he ran out of money before the chimney was built!!!
Suddenly, Murray is worried that he can’t answer the question and that this may be the year without presents or Santa Claus! Murray keeps the show going while secretly trying to solve the problem. When it seems like Santa is a no show, he doesn’t need Donald Trump or the government to bail him out, he needs another headlining guest! He calls in a big favor from RUDOLPH (who suspiciously looks a lot like a middle-aged man in a full-bodied plushy reindeer suit). In the process, he discovers that the true miracle of Christmas isn’t presents or pills, but rather the SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS...and that’s free! Murray somehow lifts the spirits of the gang and spreads holiday cheer while sharing an important lesson he learned through the course of the party.
